Today I was cuddling my female cat and noticed she has little black marks around her mouth. I've noticed other questions and answers talk about cat acne, but that generally seems to start on the chin, whereas my cat just has them around her mouth, and they're only very small black dots. She's just about a year old, and lives with a male, so I was wondering if it could be because of a change in hormone levels and if she could be pregnant? She hasn't been pregnant before.Blackheads on cats lips?
If they're just dots and not raised bumps, it could be a normal sign of aging. My cat has these black dots in his mouth and on his nose as well. He's even started getting some black whiskers, but he is very healthy and active. Just to be safe, a vet visit is in order, though.Blackheads on cats lips?
Some cats (like my black tabby) have black dots where the whiskers grow in. Not every one has a whisker.

my ginger cat had those on his nose %26amp; paw pebbley things.
my vet said it was nothing to worry about, its just pigments.
he had some black cat in his history so thats where he got them from.
It may be similar to freckling on people when we have had too much sun. Cats with light coloured faces, especially around the ear tips, nose and lips, are prone to sun cancer. Your kitty is a little young for this but if she spends a lot of time outside sunbaking then its worth getting it checked out by your vet.
